4th Position Scholarship

Application Window and Funding Periods:

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN APRIL 15TH-30TH AND ON THE 15TH OF EVERY MONTH THEREAFTER. APPLICANTS WILL BE NOTIFIED OF STATUS WITHIN 30 DAYS OF RECEIPT APPLICATION.

Steamboat Dance Theatre is proud to announce the establishment of the 4th Position Gina Toothaker Memorial Scholarship, honoring the life, legacy, and boundless passion for dance of one of our most beloved community members.

Gina Toothaker stepped on stage as a young girl—and never stopped dancing. For more than 40 years, Gina was a pillar of the Steamboat Dance Theatre, embodying the spirit, joy, and artistry of dance in every performance. From tap to contemporary, she graced the stage with a heart full of rhythm and soul, earning her the affectionate title of one of Steamboat’s “oldest hip-hoppers.”

Gina didn’t just perform—she lived dance. She choreographed innovative pieces that inspired dancers and audiences alike. She served tirelessly on the Steamboat Dance Theatre Board, acted as Producer and Artistic Director for our annual concerts, and mentored countless performers through her generosity, creativity, and infectious love for movement.

This scholarship is open to all adult community members—no prior dance experience needed— interested in discovering or deepening their connection to the world of dance. Scholarship funds can be used towards dance classes, workshops, or other dance-related programs. The application window opens on April 15th, 2025, and on the 15th of every month thereafter.

This scholarship may be used for retroactive classes or workshops up to 30 days before the funding period  (with appropriate documentation accompanying the application). The recipient is required to submit documentation showing enrollment for said program to ensure funds were used according to what was submitted in the application.
